Bearded Dragon Care – Setting The Perfect Environment

Everyone loves owning a pet and whether it is a traditional standard pet or a more unusual one they will still need a good amount of care. Bearded LizardReptiles and lizards make great pets and are suited to younger children as there is no walking involved, however they do require a lot of care. Bearded dragons are especially great as pets and will fascinate the whole family with the way they act. These reptiles can live up to 7 years so you need to be committed for that amount of time.

You should research well before deciding to get any reptile to understand their full care program and what living conditions they will require. Bearded dragons need a lot of space to roam around in and will appreciate a large area to run and play in. The larger the enclosure the better as this will be better suited to their needs, you should ensure you can accommodate this before decided to buy one.  An average size enclosure is 42 inches long by 24 inches width wise and as tall as possible to allow your pet to climb. There are several different shop-bought enclosures that you can buy or if you want you can build one yourself.

You need to ensure that you have the correct lighting system as bearded dragons need to be kept at the right temperature at all times. The perfect temperature is between 35 and 20 degrees C, if you aim for somewhere in the middle then your pet will be comfortable at all times. The system will need to support both fluorescent and incandescent lights and you must have a day light to emit heat. The enclosure will also need a heat pad for the bottom of the enclosure this will help to ensure your bearded dragon is kept at the best possible temperature.

Placement is very important so that your enclosure is not in a draft or a very hot area, you should consider exactly where you will place it before adding the dragon. This type of pet loves to hide and will appreciate you adding logs and rocks to the enclosure; they will want to know they can hide if they feel threatened in any way. You will also need to supply things for your dragon to play with as they are very fun creatures. And you can add a lot to their habitat as they will feel at home if you do.

You will also need to source a good food and water bowl so that your pet can be fed easily and you may also need a smooth insect bowl. These can all be bought from a good pet store. Feeding your bearded dragon will need to be thought about as they often will need to eat live food, you will need a good supply of crickets and bugs. They do also eat fruits and vegetables as well and need a varied diet to remain healthy; you must however wash them first to avoid pesticides. You will need to supply clean fresh water daily and ensure that you keep the enclosure very clean at all times. If you look after your bearded dragon well then they can make excellent pets.

Bearded Lizards – How To Keep Them Healthy

I remember when i had just bought my first bearded lizards home. I went to the store and came home with a few basics, i wasn’t really sure how to look after them though. At first i managed to get a few hints and tips from the internet but there was something wrong with my beardie. Click here to see how i saved my beardies life.

Worried i took him to a specialist and he was telling me that i had the wrong type of plants in his environment. I did some more research online and came across a bearded dragon manual. I have to say ity told me so much about caring for my beardie and also how never to pay full price for his food ever again. There was also a lot of information on how to save money on substrates and linings and other bearded lizard accessories. Click here to find out how to save money on bearded lizard supplies.

It has been two years since i got him and he has grown into a fine specimen i am sure you would agree. It is all thanks to the bearded dragon secret manual i found online. I am thinking about getting a mate now and begin breeding them. Click here for your copy of the same manual.

Bearded Dragon Manual

I have had Charlie my bearded dragon for about 3 years now and he is a great pet, a little different from a dog or cat. I have found him on the whole really easy to keep once i found some useful help and advice, i had to check it out because about 5 months after getting Charlie he was not well i wasn’t sure what was wrong but he seemed really unhappy. I did a lot of research and came up with the knowledge i had put a couple of plants in with him that i shouldn’t have as it was them that was making him sick.

If you are interested in getting a bearded dragon then i would advise you to read the bearded dragon manual first as it will give you loads of useful information on keeping your pet beardie happy and healthy and save you from making expensive mistakes like I did.

All i can say is you really need to get the

Bearded Dragon Secret Manual.

Some of the things covered in the book are:-

The 2 main varieties of bearded dragons… and which one you SHOULD choose for easier care (Most people who don’t know better choose the other species for the wrong reason!)

7 ways to identify for sure whether your bearded dragon is male or female (Some pet shop attendants even get this wrong, leading to unexpected problems later.)

6 questions to ask to determine if you’re ready to own a bearded dragon (It’s not just about the money, but another factor that will bleed you dry if you don’t take note of it.)

3 things to look out for at the pet shop you’re going to buy your bearded dragon

1 reason why you should NEVER buy a bearded dragon from a pet shop that exhibits this “sign”… no matter how much your heart tells you to! (You’ll be throwing your money down the drain.)

4 other, little-known sources besides your local pet store where you can get your bearded dragons from (usually at a cheaper price and in even better condition… if you know where to look)

2 sources where you can potentially get your bearded dragon for free

Whether you should get a baby, or an adult bearded dragon
